Finding the Lost: A Community-Based Practical Guide for IRS Searches
This Handbook chapter offers practical, community-focused guidance for conducting Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) searches at Residential School sites. Designed to support Indigenous communities, this chapter provides step-by-step instructions and context for respectful, non-invasive subsurface investigations, including the detection and mapping of unmarked graces and associated historical features.
New chapters with expanded coverage - on topics such as archival research, GPR data processing, and LiDAR methods - will be added soon! Please check back or if you would like to order a physical/paper copy of this paper, email us at irshandbook@svdngovernance.com
